Strandfontien senior secondary high school umara group

Umarah is for Muslim male and female who at any age can visit the holy land Marka and Madinah through the year beside Arafat and g haj season a female may not travel with out a blood retaliative[male] or husband [maghram]

It started in 1996 from a few educators at strandfontein high and some residents of strandfontein who started to form a group of Muslim boys from the local high school

It became a big challenge in raising funds and getting necessities Selling food plates, trays of cakes , toys and clothes ect to raise funds for one event to another slowly support donation and sponsors came in from various people , business and strandfontien community with great success manage to raise the funds for travailing and accommodation

Finally the big day came to leave for the holy land in 1998 with lots of enjoyment a new day of experience in strandfontein

a traveling bus which was parked at masjied  ul baghr waited for the group boys to take them to the airport who could not wait to get on the air plane and visit the holly land an experience of a life time
