Strandfontein pavillion beach
A day with the Abrahams family


Along the False bay coast of Cape Town between 


Muizenberg and Manandi, Strandfontein pavilion beach is 

situated 
 
It is a large area covered in sand dunes and fynboss the

pavilion has a enoumas tidal pool public toilets; parks braai

 and picnic spots alpha surf lifesaving club and nearby the 

rescue NSRI national sea 

rescue institution

I9I [station 16 this pavilion 

hosted many functions and 

famouas for movies shoots 

and photo shots it has lots of

 seiner for visitors to view

The strandfontein pavilion

beach area started out with a 

small bulding in 1981 the council had constructed a bigger

 building [beach front] with 

lots of facilities

The Abrahams children were

begging their parents to take

 them to Strandfonten 

pavillion beach for the 

summer 

holidays at the end of the 

year because of all the activities

 happening at the beach the mother Joy  suggested that

 they shouid take some friends along and ask there parents 

to join them for walk down to enjoy the day 
 
Morning

Down the families went with 4 adults and 5 children with a

3o minute walk from there house to the beach the familes 

prepared them for the hot day putting on enough sun tan 

lotion and carring a lite load when they arrived at

they choose a nearby spot 

to picnic near the toilets, and 

tidal pool

When the families unpacked 

and set up their gear they 

then 

took a small walk to the tidal 

pool when the children saw the 

pool they run and play in the sand and pool swimming and 

building sand castles later the father,friend and life guard 

showed the children how to paddle and surf with the waves 

the children slowly got tiered and bored with all the 

activities they spent in the pool and sand the mother joy and

friend when back to the picnic spot and the father then took
 
them to NSRI for a boat ride to seal Irland which was only 5

 km away when they came back from the boat ride the father

 told his friend to look after the children while he went away

 to fetch them a surprise

Afternoon

When the father arrived giggles came from the children and

 they all said fishing time now all of the children caught

 fishes Reese the oldest from the Abrahams family caught 

the biggest one using 2 small fishing rods and cooked it off

 by the braai spot While the mother Joy and friend prepared 

lunch 

 after the families had lunch took a slow walk to 

informal traders flee market to buy something and for the

 children ice cream before they went walking home for the

 day

  but who knew                                           jy wille weet nie

Strandfontein is a seaside resort 8 km east of Muizenberg, on the northern shore of False Bay 

in the City of Cape Town municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

It was laid out in 1962. The name is Afrikaans for ‘beach spring’.
