Popularly known as seagulls the strandfontein football club was established in 1978 by a group of residents who had moved into the area a couple years previously since it was established the club has been l part of the football setup in Mitchell plain over the years

We have competed in the top league in previously Mitchell plain football district [ MPFD] and the local football association [LEA] Mitchell plain after unity in 2004 under  SAFA cape town

The club has performed with distinction across all ages divisions and regulary fields two and sometimes three teams all ages u7,u9,u11 ,u13,u15 and senior team in each division over 35, over 40 second division first division and super league

The club also stages annual u13 tournament around the end of march each year called the ANNUAL UNDER 13 TOURNAMENT BY THE SEA the event attracts the top clubs in cape town mostly  the academy sides of ajax cape town, old mutual, Santos etc and host of top amateur sides including our own team as host this tournament frequented by the scouts of these professionals academies as they search for talent to boost their teams for the new season

The club is run by an elected executive committee and coaches apply for and perform voluntary services to the club in attempt to enhance the skills and enjoyment of the players perform the important function of a structure on various fronts we still a true community club

We have also performed well in various age group tournament across cape town mostly in recent years at wynberg st john s u9 the golden united u11 macassa u12 and the kenpark u23 s

The kids realy do have great opportunities to progress to higher levels from out of our club as proven by number players at Ajax C T one of whom is the current SA u20 goalkeeper a number of other players have also progressed successfully to the academy sides old mutual and ASD football academy we have a proud tradition producing excellent junior players testament to the jointly of our coaches and parents

The club forms a vital part of the strandfontein community and will strive to continuously provide outlet for young children girls and boys to enjoy the football in warm family environment, while presenting the opportunity for further development and growth to those who want to excel in the game DARE TO BECOME A SEAGULL
